Even if we don't speak turkish yet, we can read as the alphabet is not too different from the french one. We found out that there are a lot of french words used in the turkish language (about 10 % we were told). The spelling of these words is so different from the french one that it is sometimes difficult to recognize a word unless you speak it out loud. Poor Maelle and Paul, they will have big troubles with spelling tests when we'll go back to France !!!! Here are a few examples for the french-speaking readers. Can you recognize those words ?
- tayyör (ö se prononce -e-)
- kartuş (ş se prononce -ch-)
- aksesuar
- psikolog
- kuaför
- ekselans
- şemine
- asensör
I'll write more whenever I find them.
alyans, valiz, abajur, gardrop, antre (evin giris bolumu),
